Tim Phelps grew up in Creswell, NC and was the youngest of 4 children. Tim worked with and learned the building trade from his father, Reginald Dalton Phelps.

He is a third-generation carpenter, spent over 25 years working in the North Carolina colonial coastal area before founding Tim Phelps & Co. in January of 1999 with wife, Debra. Since then, he has been gaining respect by building high-quality new homes and custom renovations in the area.

Tim is a gentle, soft-spoken man with a tremendous about of knowledge and ability of the building industry. He is a pillar in the community with the integrity that all homeowners are looking for in a builder. He and Debra both stay updated on information and issues in the building and real estate industry to help with their customers’ questions. They work well together in accommodating the customer in all their homeowner needs.

Tim was named the 2006 Edenton-Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year and served as Chamber President for 2007.

Debra Boswell Phelps grew up and was raised in Edenton. After attending East Carolina University, she graduated with a BS in Vocational Education and a minor in Business in 1980. She taught throughout North Carolina until 1993. She then began traveling the US Eastern Seaboard, Caribbean, and Europe using her teaching experience and her retail sales experience. Growing up in Chowan County, Debra knows the area and the people very well. She is very active in the community and her church. Also, her love for people and gregarious personality are just two of the many attributes you will notice when working with her.

Debra has been in the Real Estate business since 1998. She gained experience and enjoyed working with other brokers as a salesperson in Edenton, before becoming a Broker in Charge and working as an independent agent.

Debra is extremely organized which enhances working with her husband, Tim. Tim is the General Contractor of Tim Phelps & Co. General Contracting and Construction. The couple makes a perfect team in building and selling homes together. They are offering land and home packages at Windsor Woods in Edenton, which is near Chowan Golf and Country Club as well as the Albemarle Sound. The packages start at $129,500 and range up to $250,000.

Rita McPherson, Office Manager

Rita originally lived in Virginia but moved to Edenton in 1981. She has been with Tim Phelps & Co. since August 2003. Compass Rose Realty got started in June 2006 and Rita was right there lending a helping hand.

She believes in good old fashion customer service; “That the customer is #1 and should always be considered right”. With this attitude Rita treats all people with respect and honesty.

Debra and Tim consider Rita their “right hand woman”, because she can usually answer your question ASAP or very quickly find out the answer for you. “She is a hard worker, always thinking how to make things better for our companies and our customers: is what makes her a valuable asset to us”, Debra states.

Rita is married to Aubrey and has two sons, Brian, U.S. Air Force veteran, daughter-in-law, Kimberly and Alex, still in high school

Alison Ward, Office Assistant

Alison is a native Edentonian that knows the area and its people very well. Alison has worked in the Real Estate Industry for the last four years and brings a vast array of talents to Compass Rose Realty. As Office Assistant she uses her Information Systems and Computers background to help Compass Rose Realty meet all your Real Estate needs.

Alison and her husband Brian share their home with their son, Drew; daughter, Jordan; and their three dogs, Sunny, Nero, and Morgan.
